Root (שֹׁרֶשׁ šoreš)

And a rod will go forth from the root of Jesse, and a flower will ascend from his root. (Is 11,1)

וְיָצָ֥א חֹ֖טֶר מִגֵּ֣זַע יִשָׁ֑י וְנֵ֖צֶר מִשָּׁרָשָׁ֥יו יִפְרֶֽה׃

Et egredietur virga de radice Jesse, et flos de radice ejus ascendet.
