John was a lamp lit and shining and for a time you were content to enjoy the light that he gave. (J 5:35)

ἐκεῖνος ἦν ὁ λύχνος ὁ καιόμενος καὶ φαίνων, ὑμεῖς δὲ ἠθελήσατε ἀγαλλιαθῆναι πρὸς ὥραν ἐν τῷ φωτὶ αὐτοῦ.

Ille erat lucerna ardens, et lucens. Vos autem voluistis ad horam exultare in luce eius.
