Straw (קַשׁ qaš)

The day already comes, flaming as a furnace. On that day all the proud and evildoers will be burned like straw in the fire. They will be left without branches or roots. (Ml 3:19)

כִּֽי־הִנֵּ֤ה הַיּוֹם֙ בָּ֔א בֹּעֵ֖ר כַּתַּנּ֑וּר וְהָי֨וּ כָל־זֵדִ֜ים וְכָל־עֹשֵׂ֤ה רִשְׁעָה֙ קַ֔שׁ וְלִהַ֨ט אֹתָ֜ם הַיֹּ֣ום הַבָּ֗א אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָאֹ֔ות אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹא־יַעֲזֹ֥ב לָהֶ֖ם שֹׁ֥רֶשׁוְעָנָֽף׃

Ecce enim dies veniet succensa quasi caminus; et erunt omnes superbi et omnes facientes impietatem stipula; et inflammabit eos dies veniens, dicit Dominus exercituum, quae non derelinquet eis radicem et ramum.
