To serve (עָבַד ‘âḇaḏ)

Now therefore, fear the Lord, and serve Him with a perfect and very sincere heart. And take away the gods that your fathers served in Mesopotamia and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. (Jos 24:14)

At least once a week one has to clean the dwelling, remove dust, dirt, put things in the right place, throw away the garbage.
Similarly, one should often tidy up your heart and head. By asking myself who I serve, to whom or what, I devote most of my time, energy, what motivations accompany me, I can see who or what is my Lord. It may turn out that I have a whole “pantheon of gods” in front of me, looking like a mountain of garbage. But then I can also once more make the decision: “I and my house want to serve the Lord”. It is a service to our best interests.
