The young man said to Him: All these I have kept from my childhood. What is still lacking for me? (Mt 19:20)
λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ νεανίσκος· πάντα ταῦτα ἐφύλαξα· τί ἔτι ὑστερῶ;
Dicit illi adolescens: Omnia hæc custodivi a iuventute mea, quid adhuc mihi deest?
The young man who appears on the Gospel scene becomes a figure of a youth that is still open to many possibilities. He has an important desire that resonates with his openness to different scenarios. These life, family, religious scenarios seem to be well arranged. The encounter with the Lord awakens in him a new, or final, fundamental dock. It is eternal life. It is immediately revealed when we enter into an intimate relationship with the Lord, when we join His path. Youth carries such a risk, if it doesn’t plunge too quickly into proprietorship.
