Foolish (ἄφρων afrōn)

Fools! Did not He, who made what is outside, indeed also make what is inside? (Lk 11:40)

ἄφρονες, οὐχ ὁ ποιήσας τὸ ἔξωθεν καὶ τὸ ἔσωθεν ἐποίησεν;

stulti nonne qui fecit quod de foris est etiam id quod de intus est fecit?

God has shaped the human intellect in such a way that it has the ability to know the beauty and wisdom of the Creator. We learn not only the external view of matters, things, and events, but we have the ability to “read inside”. We notice meaning, purpose, and reason. Therefore, the Lord Jesus admonishes the Pharisee to use his mind and not to show off his literal knowledge of the law.
