If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Your peace would have been like a river, and your justice would have been like the waves of the sea. (Is 48:18)
Utinam attendisses mandata mea: facta fuisset sicut flumen pax tua, et iustitia tua sicut gurgites maris.
The flowing water of the river in the glow of the full sun is like a silver ribbon. A calm river current is an image of peace. Sitting on the banks of our rivers, we can find relief for our overstimulated senses. Today I sit with the Bible, which becomes like a river of peace. The Bible also fertilizes my heart with blessing. The tree of my life draws richly from the streams of the Word. The returning waves, again and again, wash my feet and remind me of Mercy.
