Twelve (δώδεκα dōdeka)

And the wall of the City had twelve foundations. And upon them were the twelve names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb. (Rev 21:14)

Et murus civitatis habens fundamenta duodecim, et in ipsis duodecim nomina duodecim Apostolorum Agni.

On St. Bartholomew’s Day, we talk about the twelve Apostles. St. Bartholomew, also known as Nathanael, was one of them. Each of the Twelve dedicatedly preached the Kingdom of God. Bartholomew is said to have reached Armenia, India, Arabia, and even Ethiopia. The Christians there are proud to have heard the Gospel from one of Jesus’ close friends.
The Olympics are over. The athletes, rejoicing in their medals, emphasize that they would not have achieved success without the hard work of the entire team, without a good coach. I think that the victory of St. Bartholomew, which we celebrate today, is not only his success, but that of the entire group of the twelve Apostles, achieved under the leadership of the Coach. It is worth working as a team.
