Do not prevent him who is able from doing good. When you are able, do good yourself too. (Pro 3:27)
אַל־תִּמְנַע־טֹ֥וב מִבְּעָלָ֑יו בִּהְיֹ֨ות לְאֵ֖ל יָדְיךָ֣* לַעֲשֹֽׂות׃
μὴ ἀπόσχῃ εὖ ποιεῖν ἐνδεῆ, ἡνίκα ἂν ἔχῃ ἡ χείρ σου βοηθεῖν·
Noli prohibere benefacere eum, qui potest: si vales, et ipse benefac.
Although the translation does not directly mention the hand, it is worth recalling this Hebrew word because the original text says that someone is in the power of “your hand”. It suggests that you can do good because God calls you to open yourself to goodness. The hand no longer takes greedily, does not keep for itself, but is an extension of God’s action.
