Harvest (θερισμός therismos)

And another Angel went forth from the temple, crying out in a great voice to the One Sitting upon the cloud: Send out Your sickle and reap! For the hour of reaping has arrived, because the harvest of the earth has ripened. (Rv 14,15)

The Bible teaches that the term “harvest” does not refer solely to gathering mature grain but also to grapes. The symbolism of the harvest is thus associated with maturity and the attainment of full development. No one gathers grain or fruit that is still unripe—they need time to mature and become ready.

In the parables, Jesus Himself explains that “the harvest is the end of the world” (Mt 13:39). This reminds us that we need not fear His coming. God knows each of us and knows when we are ready—when the “fruit” of our life has reached its fullness. He always acts at the right moment, never too early, never too late. The Lord will come when “the hour of reaping has arrived because the harvest of the earth has ripened” (Rv 14:15).
