Israel, convert to the Lord your God. For you have been ruined by your own iniquity. (Hos 14,2)
שׁוּבָה יִשְׂרָאֵל עַד יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ כִּי כָשַׁלְתָּ בַּעֲוֺנֶךָ׃
Convertere Israhel ad Dominum Deum tuum quoniam corruisti in iniquitate tua.
Ἐπιστράφητι, Ισραηλ, πρὸς κύριον τὸν θεόν σου, διότι ἠσθένησας ἐν ταῖς ἀδικίαις σου.
God chose and loved the people of Israel. He watched over the Chosen Nation and cared for them. He was present in their history. He spoke to them through the prophets, comforting and admonishing them. He made a covenant with them and gave the promise of the Messiah. He met their needs. Unfortunately, Israel was not obedient to God, broke the covenant, worshiped idols, and quickly forgot God’s blessings. However, God never forgot. Through the mouths of the prophets, He said loud: CONVERT.
Convert, for your Lord waits, He invites you to the fullness of life. Convert, for He is ready to forgive all your sins. Convert, for He will have mercy on you and save you; just convert. Convert, and He will care for you and bless you. Reject sin, return to the source of happiness, return to love. Convert to His way, which leads to happiness. This invitation is also for us, His beloved children. God speaks to us too: CONVERT every time we stray from the path leading to Life.
