Free (ἐλεύθερος eleutheros)

And he said, “From foreigners.” Jesus said to him: “Then the sons are free. (Mt 17:26)

εἰπόντος δέ· ἀπὸ τῶν ἀλλοτρίων, ἔφη αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· ἄρα γε ἐλεύθεροί εἰσιν οἱ υἱοί.

Et ille dixit: Ab alienis. Dixit illi Iesus: Ergo liberi sunt filii.

Freedom can be considered in two aspects: “freedom from…” and “freedom to…” The Lord Jesus introduces Peter to freedom in both dimensions. Henceforth, Peter is to be free from anxiety about money matters. The second area of ​​freedom opens with the joy of being a son of the One Father. I am free to love.
