Partner (συγκοινωνός synkoinōnos)

And I do everything for the sake of the Gospel, so that I may become its partner. (1Cor 9:23)

πάντα δὲ ποιῶ διὰ τὸ εὐαγγέλιον, ἵνα συγκοινωνὸς αὐτοῦ γένωμαι.

Omnia autem facio propter evangelium, ut comparticeps eius efficiar.

The prefix syn- indicates an action or state that emphasizes participation, doing something together. The second part of this noun evokes the concept of community, shared experience, bond. In its entirety, we have a strong expression that emphasizes St. Paul’s desire for his entire life to be connected to the Gospel. The perspective of his life opens up to the full richness of the Gospel because he devoted himself completely to its proclamation. May this impulse of St. Paul inspire us today to do everything for Christ, with Christ and in Christ. In this way, the doxology that we know from the liturgy will resound.
