And so, let us feast, not with the old leaven, not with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. (1Cor 5:8)
The idea of purity in the Greek word eilikrineia (translated as purity, sincerity, ingenuousness) comes from the phenomenon of sunlight. In the light of the sun, we see impeccability. This is what St. Paul wants for the Corinthian community, wounded by sin and the lack of response to the disorder of social life. The yeast has the power to leaven the whole dough. This image was used by Jesus to introduce us to the Kingdom of God. May our thoughts, desires, and actions be illuminated by the light of truth today.
And so, let us feast, not with the old leaven, not with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
